Policy Making and Research

One of HREP Malawi's goal is to promote engagement of public and non-state actor’s engagement in the development of policies and guidelines. This program aims at supporting the engagement of policy maker, non-state actors and communities in fostering ownership and accountability.  We aim at achieving this by ; (1) Policy analysis and advocacy - HREP Malawi aims to conduct in depth policy analyses to identify gaps and opportunites in existing health policies, advocating for evidence based policy changes by presenting research findings to policymakers and engaging in dialogue with government agencies , legislators and other stakeholders to influence health policy decisions . (2) Research design and Implementation- HREP works to design and undertake research projects addressing key health issues or gaps in healthcare knowledge mostly by conducting community based participatory research to involve affected communities in the research process. (3) Evidence Synthesis and Review - HREP Malawi aims to conduct  systematic reviews and evidence syntheses to summarize existing research on specific health topics to provide policy makers with clear and concise summaries of the best available evidence to inform decison making . (4) Policy Briefs and Recommendations- HREP Malwi develops policy briefs that translate research findings into actionable recommendations to clearly communicate policy recommenendations to policymakers, stakeholders and the public. (5) Policy Monitoring and evaluation - HREP Malawi aims to establish mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of health policies and evaluate the imoact of policies and advocate for adjustements or improvements based on evaluation findings. (6) Partnerships with academic institutions- HREP Malawi aims to form partenerships with universities and research institutions to laverage academic expertise on research and also collaborate on joint research projects , share resources and contribute to the academic discource on health related issues .
